The cottage is clean, well maintained, brilliantly equipped with everything you can think of for a short break. We were offered all the assistance you could want without being intrusive. Thank you.

We stayed for a week at Old Style Cottage and were absolutely delighted with our stay. Not only is the cottage beautifully restored and immaculately presented, but Trish and Stephen are wonderful - always there if you need them but never intrusive. Everything you could need is provided - even a highchair and stairgate if you have small children like us.
The cottage is perfectly located and within easy reach of lots of areas of North and West Devon and also over the border in Cornwall. The seaside towns of Bude, Bideport and Clovelly are all less than 45 minutes away by car.
We would highly recommend this cottage for a stay and hope to return ourselves in the
future.

3 "Old Style Cottage is perfect.”

My husband, brother, and I enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. Trish and Stephen have created a cozy, welcoming, well-equipped home away from home. The surrounding area is beautiful and the cottage is close to Dartmoor National Park, an amazing place to hike and explore. We hope to return to this special place and highly recommend it.

4 “Setting the standard for cottages everywhere!”
Reviewed 30 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012
This place is amazing. I stayed here with husband and 2 small children for 5 days and absolutely loved it. The quality of the restoration is immaculate. Trish and Stephen are lovely, and were always around when we needed them. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is really well equiped, so if you do stay, take note of all that's included! We were given beautiful biscuits when we arrived (because neither of us drink - they usually
give you a bottle of wine!) so this was a lovely touch. The childrens beds had little cuddly toys on them and so they felt very at home straight away. This was our first cottage holiday so now we are worried - where will we find anywhere as nice as this?! The location was fab as well - being central, it was easy to get to most places in Devon within a reasonable timescale. Our 13 month old is teething and managed to put some lovely teeth marks in their cot - I was worried about telling them but it was absolutely no problem, they were so understanding. Only tip to give, if you have a toddler or crawler, you will need a barrier of some sort for the bottom of the stairs. We managed alright with a chest of drawers that Trish and Stephen brought down from upstairs, as there was no stairgate at the bottom (although there was one at the top). It worked out well
though. Will definietly be returning! Miss it already...

5 “small and perfectly formed”

This cottage has everything for a family with young children from nightlights to plastic beakers to wooden floors throughout for easy cleaning of accidental spilages..... there were even teddies ready on the beds. Being a family who does cottage holidays often this has got to be one of the best kitted out cottages we have stayed in. Although the stairs are fairly steep our 4 year old was fine on them and if you are worried Trish and Stephen provide a fitted stair gate. There is a washer dryer and a clothes airer meaning washing (if you have to do it !) is easy, the dishwasher means no washing up and the whole cottage is immaculate with everything you need and plenty of space for food. We will definitely be keeping this on our favourites list!

6 “Really Nice Place”

We spent 10 days in this beautiful thatched cottage. What you see is what you get. For issues like cleaniness, amenities, quality, quietness, etc, maybe you need to arrive first and find out. Well, everything was perfect for us and probably better than we expected since not all places are so well taken care and personally attended. The owners of the property were
always there to assist. The house is situated in an area that is worth visiting again.
So Trisha & Stephan, thank you very much and hopefully we'll see you in the future.

7 “Home from home, but better”

Old Style Cottage in Jacobstowe is ideally situated between the town of Okehampton and the wild Cornish coast. The cottage has been lovingly renovated by Stephen and Trish, who live in the home next door. They are the best and friendliest of hosts, who sincerely mean it when they say that their guests should ask for anything they want, and if the guests are not
forthcoming (perhaps because they are bowled over by the comfort of the cottage), then one of them will gently enquire whether everything is in order. The sparkling white and polished wood of the cottage make it homely, unpretentious and yet stylish. It contains everything a traveller could want and is as suitable for a family as for a single vacationer. There are appliances, linen, games, television, DVDs and more. Trish and Stephen provide directions, help with Devon and Cornish refreshments and attractions, and even milk and
honey to all their guests. Highly recommended.

8 “Couldn't be better!”

Our stay at Old Style Cottage was simply excellent. The cottage was beautifully appointed, and so clean it sparkled. Trish and Stephen were welcoming and gracious hosts, and they helped to make our stay feel very special. We loved the location, as it enabled us to travel readily all over Devon and Cornwall. The cottage itself is charming, tastefully renovated (and
very comfortable) while still retaining the charm and character of the original. A great deal of thought has gone into making this an exceptional place to stay. It is a beautiful area, a great cottage, and wonderful hosts -- what could be better?!

We were really impressed with everything about this cottage. From the little welcoming touches such as a bottle of wine and starter packs of tea, coffee etc. to the quality of the fixtures and fittings. There was everyything you could think of to hand. The facilities were immaculate and comfortable. As for location you could be almost anywhere in Devon within an hour and Dartmoor was on the doorstep. A perfect week away.

10 "A restful stay in a lovely house in beautiful country village.”

Our stay in Old Style Cottage in Jacobstowe, near Okehampton was wonderful, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The cottage itself, although hundreds of years old, has been very sympathetically restored and contains every modern convenience you could wish for. We stayed as a family with three young children and found the cottage very roomy, clean and child friendly. Jacobstowe is a beautiful small
village in a quiet location with a very old church and very convenient to Okehampton and its shops, pubs and restaurants. It's also perfectly located to explore Dartmoor, the rest of Devon and also Cornwall.

Our stay in Old Style Cottage was everything we hoped it would be. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortably furnished. The kitchen and bathroom had all the modern amenities and we loved having a washer/dryer for our clothes. The owners left detailed instructions for the appliances and also eateries that were close by with guests' reviews of the food. The location was great for taking day trips in the area and a supermarket
is just 15 minutes away. I can't say enough about the owners. They were very gracious and helpful, without being obtrusive. When I expressed an interest in another region of England, they brought over books and video's of that area. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others.
